His Beloved

How often we compare the love of God in our lives to the actions we take. We think to ourselves, he’ll love me more if I obeyed him, he’ll love me more if I spoke to him more, he’ll love me more if just did the right things that pleased him.

The truth of the matter is, there is nothing we can do to make God love us more or less. God wouldn’t love you any less if you totally disobeyed him and always took him for granted. The same way God wouldn’t love you more if you totally surrounded yourself to him and obeyed him with all of your heart. He loves you because he loves you because he loves you, because he loves you, and because he loves you, even more times than I can say “because he loves you”!

It can be the most confusing thing to understand: how could a God love someone irrespective of what they did or how they act? Why we ask this question is because we don’t really know what or who God is, as we try to reason out who he is using our human knowledge – which isn’t possible.

We humans love, because we choose to love. We choose who to love, and choose who to hate. Love is a decision for us, It’s an action. It’s something we do. We decide within ourselves, I’ll love this person, and I won’t love this person. Love is something we choose to do. God doesn’t work that way!

You see love is who God is. It’s not something he does. It’s who he is. Love is more than an action word for God, it’s his personality. The truth of the matter is, God cannot help but love you. He doesn’t know how to do anything but Love. That’s why it doesn’t matter what you do, he’ll love you anyway. Even if you hurt him (and yes he does get hurt), even if he wasn’t happy with you, doesn’t mean he would stop loving you. Just as a mother loves her child but spanks him for being stubborn, God loves us despite it all.

“Love isn’t something God does. It’s who he is.

Love is more than an action word for God, it’s his personality.”

You will always be the beloved of God. It does not change, he loves you a 100 percent. He won’t love you any better when you become better, he won’t love you more when your relationship with him grows. Even if you have no plans to become better, even if you never wanna change, or have no plans to walk with him, he will love you a 100 percent. Love is his nature. He loves all the way, all the time. You can’t run away from his love, that’s the way he is.

His love does not change. What changes is your ability to receive his love. You see, God stretches out his hand to everyone individually. All he asks is that you open your heart to him and accept his love. Accepting his love means accepting him because they are one. If you will accept his outstretched hand, his love fills you up, and he takes out every obstacle that we face. He moves everything away because he loves you the way you are right now. If you accept his outstretched hand, you choose to receive a radical love. One that will blow all your paradigms of what you think love is.

But you can only accept his love as much as you love yourself. So that outstretched hand comes to set you free from yourself. From the way you see yourself. From the smallness of your thinking about yourself, from rejection, from shame, from low self-esteem, from despair, from abuse. Because when he sees you, he sees someone that he loves, outrageously. And he has so much he wants to give you, so many places he wants to take you, so many goodies in store for you if you will accept his outstretched hand.

Above all, his love damages fear! His love hates fear, fights fear with a passion, in you, and around you, so you can feel good about yourself. Will you accept his love?
